Emergency: Story
Emergency is based on true events in 1975. The film chronicles the events under the leadership of one of the most powerful women in Indian history, Mrs. Indira Gandhi.
Emergency is an Hindi biographical political drama film directed and co-produced by Kangana Ranaut based on a script by Ritesh Shah and a story written by Ranaut. Based on the film Indian Emergency, Ranaut played the role of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Principal photography began in July 2022 and concluded in January 2023. It was scheduled to release on September 6, 2024, but was postponed after the film failed to meet the Central Board of Film Certification’s censorship requirements.
Music:
The film’s music is composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar and Arko, while the background score is composed by Sanchit Balhara and Ankit Balhara. The lyrics are penned by Manoj Muntashir. The first single titled “Singhasan Khali Karo” was released on 26 August 2024.
