The Greatest of All Time (GOAT) is a 2024 Indian Tamil-language science fiction action film directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by AGS Entertainment. The film stars Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Mohan, Ajmal Ameer, Jayaram, Sneha, Laila, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premki Amaran, Yukendran and VTV Ganesh in double roles of Vijay. It was the studio’s twenty-fifth production and Vijay’s final film before entering politics. The film follows Gandhi, a former head of a special anti-terrorist force, who reconciles with members of his team to resolve issues stemming from his previous operations.

The film was officially announced in May 2023 with the title Thalapathy 68 as Vijay’s 68th film, and the official title was announced in December of that year. Principal photography began in October 2023 and wrapped in late June 2024. Gandhi (Vijay), an officer in the anti-terrorist squad, works on various operations with his team members Kalyan, Sunil, and Ajay (Prabhudeva, Prashanth, and Ajmal). However, Anu grows suspicious of Gandhi’s activities.

During a family vacation in Thailand, Gandhi’s family is attacked by terrorists and during this ordeal, Anu learns the truth about her husband’s job. In Meenav, Jeevan, Vadho was supposed to have been tied up in Thailand, Rasura happens upon and starts targeting his father Gandhi, launching attacks inside his house.

How did Jeevan disappear? How did the terrorist team fool everyone into believing that Jeevan was dead? Why is Jeevan seeking revenge against his father Gandhi? Where has Jeevan been all this while and who raised him? What are the reasons behind Jeevan’s anger towards his father?

The Greatest of All Time: Music

Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed music for his second film with Vijay after New Geetha (2003) and the tenth film with Prabhu. An audio release was planned but was later canceled for unknown reasons. The album was released on September 3, 2024, two days before the release of the film, which consisted of four songs, “Whistle Bodu”, “Chinna Chinna Kanjani”, “Thipori” and “Matta”.

The highly anticipated action-adventure film The Greatest of All Time will hit theatres worldwide on September 5, 2024, in both 2D and IMAX formats. Initially rated U/A by the CBFC, the film’s runtime was reduced to 179 minutes after certain scenes were edited. Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for the Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada versions, while the platform has acquired the Hindi version for a separate fee. Zee Tamil has also acquired the satellite rights for the film.
